The time for change is now.
This is just the beginning. We have the chance to start a new movement by electing proactive board members who work for the people to ensure the youth of our neighborhoods have quality education, door-opening opportunities, and resources to achieve any and all of their goals. A vote for me is more than a vote for these ideas - it is a vote towards a brighter, people-led future.
Safe Schools
Community Input
Above all, my job as a school board member is to be a representative of the people, for the people. Currently, it is difficult to find resources to connect with public officials - not everyone has time to show up to school board meetings, but everyone deserves to be able to give their opinion. I will have constant outreach efforts for my constituents to ensure I and delivering on my promises and learning from the people I will represent. Together, we can find solutions to the problems we all know and deal with.
Accessible Mental Health Services
Students are facing a mental health crisis. Having professional mental health providers on campus can help students who are dealing with mental health issues. It is so important to teach students about mental health and teach positive coping mechanisms to deal with emotions. This type of long term investment protects students from harmful behavior in the future.
Class Size Reduction
Size matters. Lowering class sizes has been shown to help student achievement, particularly for lower-income and students of color. We should aim to lower the student to teacher ratio by hiring good quality teachers and ensuring a high retention rate.
Expanding CTE programs
Not everyone student wants to go to college. The goal of our schools is not just to prepare students for university but to have the skills necessary to succeed in any field. Our amazing CTE program will continue to be one of the best in the state, and we can expand by having more programs and improving the quality of existing ones
